Oh, if the mint would have paid attention to matched dies in 1965!

Pulled this from a set I picked up at a shop today:

Sadly, the reverse is just very light contrast.

How can you be at a coin shop when you are supposed to be working? Does your boss know?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I snuck out when he wasn't looking. Almost got caught, too!

You're boss is blind anyway Russ...probably sipping a brewski at work...no wonder you could sneak out image

Which shop? What do you have in your neck of the woods in the way of a coin store?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

They also have the same problem in 1966:

Although that one has a bit better reverse from a contrast standpoint.

But, they sometimes had their act together in 1967:

    Russ:

This may not be the best question, but with respect to the 1965 quarters, do you think there are sharp business strikes that get a SMS designation by TPG companies? I am asking in part because I found a real gem 1965 quarter, but I while I still think it is a business strike, others may disagree.

Absofriggintutely! PCGS is notorious for sticking business strikes that look "too" good in to SMS holders. They've done it to me with Kennedys and many others here with other denominations.

The '65 I found has beautiful fields but they are not even close to being as reflective as the one pictured... and obviously no cameo

Hey! I bet you would tell someone from Florida or some podunk NE state.....why not tell me?
I am at least 30 minutes from you so it isn't like I would do the drive (at least, not in our traffic..makes that 30 minute stretch into 3 hours sometimes).

Amazing how Russ' field service emergencies seem to coincide with coin shop hours.image

'podunk NE state'. I'm almost insulted but WE like to call ourselves "mid-atlantic"image

Russ can do that because his boss isn't too bright, from what I hear image

Heh......sorry about that Joe, but I was born out there and spent some time at the Academy when I did my time in the Army.
The NE is for some, but not for others (you guys get too much snow image ).
