Your monitor resolution is probably different. Hence, colors appear differently.

You can also take a laptop to bed with you. Most things look better when you're lying down comfortably.

A laptop's monitor is usually far brighter and crisper than the average CRT based monitor. Specifically, most laptop monitors are set at 92 dpi and the white point is set differently. Coordinating colors and brightness between monitors has always been a super challenge. When I take pics, I just make them look good on my monitor and hope for the best on other people's.
