An anchor 1/4 dollar came in the mail today from Civitas.
Upon inspection the tip of the first 2 in the date is split. Is that simply the style of the engraver or a doubled tip? The first 2 seems thicker on the bottom as well and flared at the end.

Nice BWI 1/4 dollar. I've been looking for nice examples from that series as the coins also circulated in the Canadian Maritimes provinces.
I believe the date was hand stamped then hand re-engraved during die touch up. Similar to lite side bust coinage.
