I bought these 2 medals at the ANA, even though they were expensive and I knew nothing about them. They were just so attractive! Both are prooflike an attractively toned. The St. Helena Taven medal is about the size of a silver dollar, only thicker. It was a London area tavern that operated in the mid to late 1800's, according to my research. I could not find much on the John Parish medal, other that the fact that Parish was Vice Consul of the U.S. Consulates office in Hamburg, Germany in the 1790's. He was Scottish born, but a naturalized citizen of Hamburg. He was the only non-American to serve as a U.S. Consul. Of course I could have the wrong John Parish........ Any information that you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Well shoot. I would have taken you up on your offer, but my wife made we give up red meat for a couple of months. How about a buffalo chicken sandwich from Hooters???

Exactly. The sure don't make 'em like the used to. Look at the St. Helena medal (made in the late 1800's with limited technology), then look at some of the state quarters floating around. Geeeesh.

Indeed!!
So many of the Conder's are brilliant executions, not to mention the silver 6d. and shillings which were done at various times throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
BTW, you can have any chicken you want in trade; I'd even spring for a big ol' cold-smoked turkey!!!

token (not a medal)
Yeah, I guess you are correct. That's one heavy token. It's the size of a Morgan, but thicker. Sure don't make 'em like the used to.....
