  • Something went wrong with the link, Half way down 3934348422 listed by Numismatic Bureau SB dollars in coin world holders selling as PGS
  • Ebay

Iam new at this, hope this link works
  • Well, the seller advertises the coin as "PGS" certified, while close to PCGS, is not.

If you know what you're doing, I can't see anyone falling for this. I'm sure there will be some idiot out there to prove me wrong though.

The real question now is "What does PGS stand for?".

I actually use them, with my small cent collection. A few of the best dates are slabbed for authenticity, and I wanted to be able to have a consistent presentation for the set. So I got some Coin World holders and some Eagle albums for slabbed coins. It's kinda bulky, but it makes a decent presentation. Still, if I ever sell the ones in the Coin World holders, I'll probably move them back into a 2x2. I don't want anyone to think I'm selling coins from my own "grading service."

Here's an example of my 1864-L in a Coin World holder. The best thing about the CW holders is that you can remove the plastic when taking the picture and just get the insert, so you don't have that awful glare off the plastic:

  • Well even if you win the auction at 1 cent, with $3.95 S&H, the seller still makes a bit of a profit.
If the seller tapes the coin to the inside of a cheap padded envelope, it could mail for less than a buck maybe, two if he had to
    buy the padded envelope.
