Of course it took me 10 tries, and it's still not great, but at least the color is right. Any suggestions from the pros out there are appreciated.

I think it turned out quite well.
The old Russian coins like this are very hard to photograph, especially the dark chocolate ones.
Looks like your getting the hang of it.

I think you did quite well...just go with the flow otherwise you'll find yourself spending so much time on each image that it won't be fun any longer...and i don't think that's the point. Excellent job and welcome to the digital world!!
