As I recall, Barney purchased this MS64 coin from Evan Gale, I believe, for something like $2000+. I seem to recall seeing the coin in person, don't remember where or how, and thinking "nice color, subdued luster." Barney, who obviously was in need of some medical help, went from loving to hating the coin, and consigned the piece to auction. I forget who sold it, maybe the Goldbergs, but it went for about $750 -- somewhat more than I thought it would.

Barney self-admitedly suffered from poor judgement, in many aspects of his life, not limited to this particular coin.

With respect to this particular coin, he was in a hurry to buy it and then was in a hurry to sell it.

Just one of those would be a good recipe to lose money. BOTH, and one is almost GUARANTEED to lose money.

    Gemtone,

He bought it for $2700 and it hammered at $700 plus juice. Yes, it was Goldberg.

wherever you are do not buy any more high priced specialized collectibles which you know nothing about from salesmen for investment/get rich quick themes which make you feel good at the time of purchase

i wish you well and hope things work out for you

Thanks, K6AZ. Sure looks nicer than a 64.
