  • That name is still too long, we need a nickname for it like the soda companies give their products... Pepsi...Dr.pepper, coke, sprite. 7up, etc.. image No but really, in the past we have learned to call certain coins by certain names, and I just don't see this one getting such a nice short name, seeing as how there is already a buffalo nickel... And what I mean is, for example, we have differant types of lincoln cents, and we can give them each a paticular name that is short to the point, such as, wheat cent, steel cent, memorial cent, zinc cent, etc, and not get confused about it, or have to debate over which fricken coin we talkin about image . Catch my drift so far?

    so how about flying buffalo?

We do use the term flying eagle (cent) now.

Possibly Mr. Snow can offer us some assistance in this regard. He is good with names. image

The original buffalo nickel has the buffalo head to the left while the new nickel has the head to the right. We could call them left-headed and right-headed or LH and RH.
  • Just call it the 'New Buffalo'...

  • On another thread someone suggested "Jeffalo" image

I think the buffalo is riding a magic carpet myself.

  • I for one am very happy with the obverse chosen, its what I wanted although i thought the design flowing into the rim would negate that. As for the reverses, I chose the buffalo but also wanted the owel design.

It will be interesting to see where 2006 takes my favorite coin image

I agree, however, I doubt they will do it in relief high enough to actually do it justice.

Let's hope they do it right and they look great because I really like the change and the new Buff. I will order many of the 2 roll sets.
I bet the proofs will be awesome. I will take a PR70DCAM on this one.
Hope there is enough to go around.

  • It's a Jefferson nickel is it not? So it should be termed just as this years were:

    2004 Jefferson, peace reverse
    2004 Jefferson, Keelboat reverse
    2005 Jefferson, Buffalo reverse
    2005 Jefferson, ocean reverse

I just saw the coin on the news. I like it and I'll predict this one will be hoarded more than the three others from this series!
