LB is dead, many collectors have quit the hobby in the past few days, dealers are packing up early, high prices have put a freeze on nearly all buying, and the sky is falling, or so I'm told. image

Having Long Beach so soon after the ANA didn't help any.

I took another batch of CC Morgans to LB today, and visited the same two dealers from yesterday. The first dealer passed on the batch, but Steve of PQDollars didn't bat an eye and pried the rest of 92-CCs from me. Now I can safely nominate Steve as a KING of CC Morgans, albeit a smaller kingimage

Thanks, Steve for a couple of wonderful transactions, actually this make 3image

Will probably pay you another visit in 2/05. if the market on CC Mogans continues to be so healthy.

    Some side notes:
    1. There seems to be more empty tables, or if the tables were occupied: a. the level of inventory is lacking, b. many dealers were staring into space, and those that were busy, were bsing w/their fellow dealers to pay attention to potential customers like me who was walking around with 5 digit dollars but didnt spent a red cent, and c. Thurs & Friday attendances seem to be smaller than the 6/04 show.
    2. I wish they'd quit playing the same old oldies but goodies music time and time and time again.
    3. I did see one dealer having 3 16-d Mercs in AU50-MS64FB, 4 16 SLQ, VF-MS63, and several low grade 01-S quarters.
    4. A veteran long time LB dealer and a board member passed on the remaining Morgans that I was trying to hawk: MS65 78-CC, MS62 93-CC, MS62, MS63 94-P. He made but ONE low ball offer on the 93-CC which I rejected in a matter of a second.

I went. It was my first big show and considered it was a new experience for me, I thought it was pretty awesome. I've never seen so many coins at once. The downpart though, is that everything was way too expensive for me. I couldn't find any good deals. And anything that would probably be a good deal, is probably too expensive for me. There was this one dealer, however, who gave me the nastiest of looks as I walked by. He kept staring at me as if I was about to steal his case of crap. I made sure that he got a nastly stare back. A little later in the show I was glad to see that he didn't have any customers. Still nice though.

are you going to bring those CC's to my table on Saturday?
  • My son and I got to talk to Idahogirl for awhile today. That was the highlight of the show.

I think I bought 3 AK tokens... including one beat up ARRC bingle. That's about it.

My son got some neat freebies from the President of the Full Step Nickel Club. Super guy.
    The Wegner ARRC Bingle Set

Looking for 1967 PCGS/NGC slabbed coins.
  • Long Beach IS dead, so please bring all your gem PCGS DMPL's to my table (# 441) so I can bail you out before the sky starts to fall. You can also dump MONSTER toned dollars on me before the market caves in. You might be able to talk me into taking other cool coins of your hands too. Try me, I'm serious...

    Mike

PS I'll be there all day tomorrow (I'm not leaving early).

Matter fact I believe I found a decent one. Some dealer that sells Monster toned Morgan dollars (and talks about some zoo animal) had a box of them for me to go through. Not sure why he had them, but it is much appreciated. Thanks Mikeimage

Also came home with one of the nicest toned Morgans I've ever seen or owned. Funny, I believe you owned it at one time.

    Everyone,

Too tired to post much info tonight, but I'm at table #433, and have sold plenty of classic commems to several different buyers, both dealers and collectors. All of these coins were "bread and butter" MS64-MS66's, so perhaps a bit of a trend is developing. We'll see if this continues tomorrow.

I had the pleasure of talking with Strat and looking at some of his inventory. Very impressive, anyone going should stop by his table.
Very knowledgeable and friendly guy... sort of.image
