Is it worth going to Long Beach Expo on Saturday?

I'm going to be in San Luis Obispo all weekend and was wondering if it would be worth a 4 hour drive to go to the show. I keep hearing about many dealers packing up and leaving other shows early. Does this happen at Long Beach as well?

Maybe I'll see some of you there!

The East Coast dealers start packing up around noon or shortly thereafter.

I understand your dilemma!

I have had good success attending on Saturday (after the show started closing on Saturday) provided you arrive at the opening (10 am, I believe)!

I usually show up around 1 PM on Saturday and about 25% of the dealers have already left and another 25% are starting to pack up.

It used to be that way on Sunday, but they cut Sunday out so now everybody leaves early on Saturday instead.

Half are still there doing business though. Sometimes you can get the dealer to give you "sell it now or haul it back home" discount at the end of the day.

A number of them were packing up when I got there at noon today. I had my 4-year old daughter along with me, so I knew I couldn't stay for long. We sorted through nickels to fill one of her albums, and I bought two used silver dollar albums for my pastor's coins. The Heritage booth was almost closed when I went to pick up my auction winnings (everyone was eating lunch at the booth and no one wanted to help). One person reluctantly helped me after I grabbed his attention when he walked past.

I got to see the forum wise-guys (gmarguli, truthteller, jom, CameronKiefer, and JamminJ), so it wasn't a total loss.
