To any one who has been upset, ticked, or outraged by any post here on the
FREE message board, just remember we are FREE to express
ourselves on this list just as we are FREE to respond, and the amigos
are FREE to monitor this board at their discretion.
Personally, I find some humor in all of this. Lately, I consider it my own
FREE soap opera that I am FREE to view in my FREE time. But, I also read
between the lines. Each post is an education or at the very least,
interesting. Maybe it reminds me not everyone thinks like me. Maybe the post
makes me wonder how I would handle the situation if presented with it face
to face on the streets (and this includes anything, even rudeness). Maybe it
brings an interesting view on a subject that I may adamantly disagree with
the poster on. Maybe it clues me in on how other collectors and other companies
work. Most of the time it is FREE advise for sticky problems, FREE
advertising and marketing suggestions, and FREE recommendations on services
and goods. Yes, some posts strike a nerve. Maybe I respond, maybe I don't.
But I do move on.
And I always remember that if and when the time comes that I feel I no
longer want to participate, I am FREE to leave. Although, I
can't imagine doing such a thing any time in the near future.

I think what Karl means by "free" is that while access to the Forum is free, you still need a computer, ISP account, utilities, phone or cable line, etc. And of course, none of these items are free.
I am leaving

Hmm...didn't think about that. You could always borrow someone else's computer, but that's kinda pushing it. I'd like to offer my apologies to dorkkarl.
Have a wonderful weekend all!!!!!!
Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
freedom is not free (i think that was on a bumper sticker, still it's true)
there's no free lunch
real freedom presupposes responsibilities/limits
(the freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins)
or you can equivocate on the word free(dom) like the original post (use it in different ways/meanings) just to get a good argument going
just deal with arguments/logic and keep personal insults --ad hominem fallacy-- out of it; debate VIGOROUSLY but respectfully.

yep. you also subsidize the programmers who developed this forum, the salary of the forum modulator, etc etc., each time you buy a coin in a pcgs slab.
that's all good & well, but let's just not kid ourselves. the forum is definitely not "free". there are precious few hard goods or services that are!!!
1 thing i can think of that is "free" would be bird droppings.

it's much better by far,
to be young at heart!

GoldDustin: I agree with the above, and appreciate when others share their opinions about numismatic subjects. I learn a great deal from other's posts with differing perspectives and opinions derived from varying numismatic experiences.
However I take offense when people either make personal attacks or make fun of others at their expense, because I feel that we all should have respect for each other and respect for each others' views and perspectives.
Constructive criticism is helpful if presented with respect for others' opinions and feelings. Personal attacks (such as what goes on in the political environment) are very distasteful to me, in my personal opinion and are deserving of a flame-thrower in retaliation.

Become a bum, no job. Go live on the streets. Go to the library, use the FREE (for you at that point since you don't pay taxes since you have no house/job and you take handouts and eat food donated) computers and access and go online to enjoy the forum and the virtual coin collection (since you probably don't have any).
There....it is now FREE.
Is that just as good at nitpicking as Karl?
I agree with what Jon posted, for all intents and purposes, the forum is FREE for us. I doubt very many here purchased a PC or signed up for electricty/ISP JUST to come online here, so, it is an added benefit. Also, there are people here who don't submit, nor buy, slabs from PCGS, right? So, they aren't adding to the profit center.
Yes....the site is paid for in one way or another. But, again, Jon is right in his way of thinking on this and obviously there was just someone who wanted to nitpick it with their own agenda.

<< <i>...in fact I lurked for several months before a post that particularly irked me caused me to create a user id and sign in! >>
The exact same thing happened with me!
Jon is a master of freedom, and the originator of the freebie.
My take on it is that if we were all the same we would get pretty tired of ourselves after not too much time so just relax and be grateful for the differences.

There was a Twilight Zone episode to this effect. While this episode doesn't play well
in the less than twenty minutes remaining for programming and the uncut version is, I
believe long lost, it was a classic. The point of the show is that it really does take all
kinds and that most of us have so many idiosyncrasies that the world likely wouldn't run
at all without other kinds.
I don't get offended very easily, but I have to fully agree with the above statement. I seem to get most irritated by posters (there aren't many) who really have nothing positive to add, and only seem to be around to toss insults at others.... very lame.

Agreed that there are a lot of nasty bashers here, but one less than before as the board has been FREED of an offender that has been banned!

Ya know, majorbigtalk,
You've been spewing that an awful lot lately....why not just be a man and be direct and say who it is? Hmmm? You talk a lot of talk but you don't seem to step up to be a man when it matters (to admit your own mistakes and just be blunt on stating a name instead of playing a child's game with words).
