Welcome to the boards. What coins interest you?
Honestly, is it that forboding that newbies are afraid to jump in? I hope not.

I see you are somewhat familiar with the lions around here. Most of them don't take a spat personally. There are a few who just love to pick fights as a hobby because they have nothing better to do I guess. But for the most part everyone here is great. The depth of knowledge here is amazing. Just stick around and you will learn a tremendous amount about numismatics.

They may well be. I know I was. I lurked for well over a month before signing up and waited another two weeks before I made my first post.

This is an oddity....can't figure out if it is copper or not....I really don't want to go scratching it up. When dropped it sounds like a 2 cent piece. And no, that is not rust on it.

I really don't think newbies get trashed around here, unless they come in with lots of silly attitude and insults flying- kinda like what happens in real life social situations......

Now get over to the open forum and create a thread where you can post a few thousand blanks so you can become a Master Collector. Then you can come back and start telling everyone how wrong they are.
In reality, everyone is glad to have new collectors/posters as long as they don't come in here with a know it all attitude. The amount of knowledge around here is way too much for anyone to try to play the bigshot.
I'll add my welcome. We as a whole aren't that tough on newbies.

It's truly funny, no make that truly sad, that people in this day and age are so wrapped up in their own little world that they refuse to try and teach someone else the correct or accepted way of doing things.
