Did anybody here win any Mastronet auction lots?

Hi,

I went O-for-last night (didn't really expect to win anything), and I have one item in tonights auction that I am still high on but don't expect to survive the after hour's bidding. Anybody win anything last night? Anybody still high? (high bidder...not literally high)

All I know is that if I ever sell my T-205s, Mastro is getting first dibs. Even with the 15% they can beat ebay....

Nope shutout...just got outbid on my last lot. Went to bed last night the high bidder on one lot that ended last night only to wake up to an e-mail that said I was outbid...oh well

Skunked for the first time in over 4 years. At least I got to bed early, and woke up without remorse.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • nope missed my only 2 interests... but i did see some items I have been discussing consigning do redculiously well... hopefully mine do it too.
  • Shut out for the first time in 2 years .... Oh well at least my wife is happy...

It's me, and my student loan. My lack of a diploma and my Honus Wagner borderless card salue you all, as well as your wives - salut!

    What's a wife?

I was speaking with one of our mutual friends and they indicated that Mastro has an entirely different clientel than other auction houses. The only auction that I was watching with potential bidding interest is the 1964 Topps Hockey set. It was supposed to end last night ...but it says that the bidding has been "extended". It's already above my perception of the value by over $1000.

I am changing my will to send whatever cards I have to Mastro for auction and divide the proceeds. Those guys get every last nickle on the stuff they auction...and then they check your couches to make sure that you weren't hiding any money.

    Regards,

    Alan
  • Bid on 8, lost 8; all were a minimum of 2X my high bid.

    I lost mine as well.

Some of the prices I looked at are amazing. I always like to look at the list of auction items at the end of the auction in order from lowest to highest price. It must be kind of demoralizing for the consignors of the items that did not sell. With $12 million plus flying around, nobody thought that their items were worth bidding on. Talk about depressing.

won 1 lot , went a little higher than I wanted but the price still seemed ok. some stuff went less than I thought while others went for much much much more as usual. the 57 basketball packs are interesting. 1 pack for 11k plus juice, 6 packs for 43k plus juice.

0-9. Bid way too high on all the baseball vending boxes and still got beat.

The auction for a 1971 Topps complete PSA 8 set was pretty interesting. I thought one sold privately in the low 20's a year or so ago.

I also thought that this would go higher, but I guess with the juice it works out to $19,363.70.

This is my first Mastro auction as a consignor, and when I got the hefty catalog my heart sank. Zillions of wonderful cards and sets and balls and jerseys and bats and other jaw-dropping collectibles too wondrous for words. (Sorry, I started sounding like a Mastro writer there) And that was just the Sports catalog! The Americana catalog was just about as large and chock-full of splendiferous ... oops, sorry again.

Anyway, I didn't think my little ol' card would do anything, with all this beautiful stuff up for bid (like a Ty Cobb bat given to Joe Sewell!) After all, there's only so many millions to be spent on one night, right? Wrong.

Not only did most of those treasures go for prices to make your head spin, my lot 1689 went for $2400 above SMR. image

Back when I was active in the hobby in the 1980s I didn't dream there was this kind of money invested in the vintage end of our hobby. Won't even go into how much is sunk into the modern 1/100 Autographed Ultra Deluxe Game-Used Refractorized Chrome Chirography cards!
