Will your coins at NGC be safe from the hurricane?

They are predicting 115 MPH winds in Sarasota from the hurricane.

Marty, you better hope they ship out your moderns today. image

Until the tornado or vicious winds tear your house all asunder like what happened with Hurricane Andrew years ago.
Don't forget flooding, how high can the water get in your house?
Next the looters before and after the storm will be crawling around all over.
Hide them real good, not in the normal places the theives will look first, under the bed, closets, chest of drawers, and so on.

With the two hurricanes hitting near the same time, they are affectionately referred to as "Bonnie & Clyde"

Charley is only a Cat 2 storm-not nearly strong enough to do much damage to the NGC building.

As for Bonnie this morning, she was all talk and no action. Of course, she was only a TS.

Andrew (August 1992) was another story. I was in the middle of it in Homestead when he hit. It was a horrendous storm and after 10 years, the NWS did the correct thing and upgraded it to a Cat 5 storm-which everyone knew it was anyway. It is sad when newsgroups and agencies have to hide information from the public!

Coins safe at NGC? Absolutely! Just as long as your coins are from the SS Republic shipwreck or owned by "Poe." Either way, there's a chance the coins might improve with a little hurricane action.

I am in Palm Harbor, about an hour away, Charlie is headed right for us. My coins are in a safe deposit box. The bank building is a strong concrete block, should be able to withstand a direct hit with no problems, interior vault is deep, deep steel, no problems at all. ANA insurance in full effect, no worries.
  • Yep, they will survive. I had many basketball cards that survived Andrew. Although, the house did not.

Hope they'll be safe at NGC. I just sent them some condition census and finest known Charlotte quarter eagles and other goodies for photoproofing!

Talk about strange. Charlotte quarter eagles sent from Charlotte Cnty and both NGC's area and ours is in the hurricanes bullseye zone.

I sent two orders earlier this week. I need to check to see if they got them. image

    Hopefully they did.

I am sure they will be fine though.

They are expecting 14-16 ft storm surges. That plus more rain and the Tampa area is already over 8 inches above normal this year with the most recent 30 inches coming in the last month and a half!
  • Marty,
I hope you don't have any PMMs there. It could become messy for him with all that wind.
