I came back with almost no treasures and gifts. A few bags of cookies and a bottle of wine or two, but that's about it. The only coin shops I could find were very touristy and were selling items for about double or triple what we would sell them for. Book stores were kind of a bust too. Digging was good and the food was better, so I can't complain at all.
I am sorry that you were disappointed with the coin shops in Italy.
We at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have a large collection of coins for sale either individually or in wholesale quantities.
These coins were issued by countries from all over the world as part of the FAO Coin Plan. Most of the coins are from the 1980s and 1990s but there are some earlier ones.
The coins are Crown size silver or base metal.
If you or any of your colleagues happen to be in Italy, please let me know and I shall be happy to show our collection.
