One of the things I'm really enjoying about the Goetz medals is the incredible variety of subjects that he commented on! Thanks for another interesting piece of history. image

Every time you post a new Goetz, I see a resemblance to political cartoons of the period-refreshing to see these statements take medallic/coin form. Goetz must have done sketches of his proposed pieces-are you aware of any Scott?

Neat medal, can we assume Goetz was not fond of Mr. Bell?image

Most of his sketches were lost during WWII, as I understand. It's unclear how many of them he had kept.

I have a line on a box of sketches and other assorted correspondence, photo's, ect., and I am in negotiation on a price. Right now the sellers want way too much. There are a number of sketches out there but most, I believe, are for commissioned pieces and not for his satirical pieces.

If he wasn't, he was fairly gentle in his treatment of that gentleman.

It's too bad the owners of the sketches want so much for them Scott; it's a fairly narrow field of interest and perhaps the sketches have value only to collectors of his medals and coins, and may have nothing resembling the value of his metal work.
