why is purple so hard to image??

I've been having a tough time imaging this purple/teal/gold Morgan. The darker area along the rim is supposed to be a deep teal. Are the purples just tough to capture, is it just an inherent hardware fault??

You have to get the angle of the light just right so that the color shows on the coin, then play with the image to correct it so that it looks like the original coin. As you play with some of the colors you can tend to lose others - so its just a matter of balancing

Purples are a bit tougher to capture. I suppose it has something to do with the visible spectrum or some such scientific stuff that's over my head.

Dark purple is pretty close to black

Lots of light needed purple isn't a very bright color.
