Certainly what you're describing is not professional.

He's a lawyer? Is he asking if you've been injured in an accident and looking for compensation? Something like that?

I already replied to this attorney and CPA and told him I was a New York CPA.

I would be very surprised if he really expected anyone to use him as an attorney/CPA just because we are shared members of these forums. I think he was just trying to get a sense of what the market is in NY/CT.

Heck, I have never solicited business here and never expect anyone to retain me as their CPA.

Coin-collecting and business for some reason does not seem to mix. I think that is so because the collectors want this hobby for pleasure and do not want to even think about business.

Now, dealers is another story.

I received the same PM. Really didn't give it much thought, and didn't respond. I really don't care that he sent me a PM that wasn't coin related, but it was much too long and asked too many questions, so I just blew it off.

Unfortunately, he may have it coming as his conduct is questionable, to say the least.

The guys a tax attorney and thinking of leaving the firm he works for and starting his own business.

From the PM I got it says he is not trying to solicit business but only looking to see it it is a viable option to go out on his own.

You can either answer him or ignore him. I see no need to bash him out in the open.
