ANA auctions: The Darkside gets screwed again!

Between the $40-50 million worth of coins in the ANR, B&M, Heritage and Superior auctions, there's only one Darkside coin: an Australian half sovereign. WTF? Once again, we have been screwed!

Please let the ANA know that you find this situation unacceptable. There are a number of ways in which the ANA can ensure that future ANA conventions include significant offerings of ancients, world coins and paper money. Please remind them that it's important and maybe they'll take care of it for us.

    How?

E-mail, write or call every one of these guys!

The ANA's best option is probably to separate the auction rights for US and Foreign material.

  • I too am sadened by the lack of world coin offerings, hopefully the bourse floor will be populated with some good stuff, I plan on hitting it on the first day....
  • Oh c'mon guys!!! It is a business first and formost. They are going to focus on what makes them the most money (or what they think makes them the most money). If for one minute there was a general perception that the market for 18th century farthings was "hot" you would see truckloads of them coming out of the woodwork!!

That's why Heritage won't use their limited number of auction lots to sell farthings. But if the ANA allowed simultaneous non-conflicting sales, e.g., a Lightside sale running against a Darkside sale, you might be pleasantly surprised by a flood of world coins.
