Another questions about conders

Since the topic seems to be firmly fixed on conder tokens right now, I want to ask a question about variations on the strikes. I learned today that my recently acquired Conder token was a Sussex Brighton DH 2. Now wanting to know more about the token I want onto the net to learn the history of the coin. I found an image, but it looked slightly different than the one I was looking at in my hand.

Did they use different dies in striking tokens? If they did, are those varieties identified in the D&H book (which I want to buy now).

Here is part of the image I am looking at. My coin is the dark brown one and the web picture is more red. There are other slight differences, but the one that stands out most is the mouth.

Orrrrr... I have had too much coffe this morning and I should go lie down now? image

Looks like there were 3 different obv dies and 2 different rev dies used to strike your token with 4 different varities from them.

  • I need to get this book you are referring to. Is this the Dalton and Hammer?

I would love more information on die strikes and history of these coins, and it seems hard to come by. How am I going to identify a new coin strike if I don't have all of the stinking images to work with????

The D&H may be expensive, but Conders are a fun way to explore for unlisted varieties!
