Where do you store Mint and Proof sets????

As they come from the mint in the blue and red boxes. Is there any preference as how to store these? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks

Stored in PVC free bags, with "Metal Safe" VCI, in safe deposit box.

  • Has anyone tried vacumn sealed with the food saver vacumn machine? Could you vacumn pack the proof sets in the original blue or red box?

I haven't tried the bags that come with the machines. Mylar is probably better.

  • I have numerous Proof Sets from the 60's. I store them, and the Mint Sets, in an old cardboard box in the closet.

Usually I take out the gems and just store them in a safety deposit box but on the
rare occassion that all the coins are gem then the whole thing goes into a box. The
most important thing is to keep the temperature stable and the humidity low. Look
at all your coins from time to time or you may be in for some nasty surprises.

  • I store mine in "Dry Boxes" that were designed for storing photography equipment. The lid of each box as a compartment which holds packets of Silica Gel dessicant.

Stashed away with all my other coins, still in their mint boxes, but not in the original shipping packaging.
