Quick Value Question

1836 one shilling that I thought was from Great Britain, but I may be wrong.

The obv. lettering reades GULIELMUS IIII D:G: BRITANNIAR: REX Fimage:

The reverse has a crown at 12, with a wreath surrounding ONE SHILLING, and the 1836 date at the lower rim.

I only have the 1900+ Krause, so any help would be appreciated. image

Thanks!

Oh yeah, if this was a U.S. Coin, I'd grade it fine/12.

    Yup.

    British shilling.

But you caught me without a 19th century Krause handy. All I have here is the 20th century edition (2004).

My krause says $7.00 in fine and $20 in VF.

In the 2004 Collectors Coins British price guide (somewhat more current), the value is £10 (£18.50) in fine. The somewhat optimistic 2004 Spink catalog has it at £20 ($37) in fine.

  • My 19th century krause is either from 1999 or 2000 (19th Century, 2nd Edition) so the prices might have changed some.
