I think PCGS & NGC are about equal, but I voted for NGC for superior service and turnaround time.
    I also use ANACS.
I only use the above three. Everything else is pretty much garbage.

    PCGS 1A
    NGC 1B
    ANACS 3

The rest I treat as totally raw.
  • ICQ? The Internet Messaging people are slabbing coins now? Wow!! image

BTW, I picked PCGS. For most coins, I prefer their holders.

ICC has a good reputation for non US coins. PCI has had mixed reviews with many of them being unfavorable in recent years. TruGrade was started by the former ACG "grader" so no opinion necessary. image

PCGS with NGC a close second.

    PCGS 1a
    NGC 1b
    ANACS 3

    The others don't compete well.

Serious Coins NGC and PCGS (in that order, but close).

PCGS almost always, although I have purchased ANACS/NGC before.

I will confess though because I had to prove it to myself, I purchased an AGC coin, which I promptly returned... I paid 60% below what an equivalent PCGS slab woud cost, and the AGC coin wasn't worth even half of what I paid for it. Also proved to me, don;t always trust the images provided on ebay -- make sure there is a return policy on anything raw/lower-tier graded.

I have never been disappointed with a PCGS or ANACS coin, but have been with a couple of NGC certified coins.

Some of my favorite coins have been in ANACS holders, can;t say anything bad about them...

& I know this is a controversial issue, but I still think PCGS are the most consistent graders...

I prefer whichever holder happens to have the coin I want. Shocking, isn't it?

I voted for PCGS, but ICCS is quite good for Canadian coins.

For cameo franklins, I prefer PCGS on average- otherwise I like NGC and PCGS about equal.... image

  • I voted for PCGS for U.S. issues, but I use NGC and ANACS for my darkside coins. I think they are more informed on darkside than PCGS.

PCGS for some, NGC for others and ANACS for coppers.

PCGS of course for obvious reasons that have been written and elaborated by many a number of times. However, that said if NGC makes some new moves and take it's head out of the sand and realize the white plastic isimage maybe things will change image

I know of ICCS, ICG, ICGS, and ICI but I have never heard of ICC. I haven't heard of ICQ either.

I will buy any coin in any slab provided it is not cleaned and graded properly. For selling coins it is PCGS, PCGS, PCGS all the way for me.

What a surprise -- on a PCGS discussion board, PCGS gets the most votes. Didn't see that coming...
  • tincuptincup Posts: 5,132 ✭✭✭✭✭
    PCGS of course.

I have to agree that some of my neatest coins (some nice type coins) also have come in ANACS slabs. But I will hesitate to purchase a Morgan AU in an ANACS slab, and copper coins. I have received some very UGLY and overgraded in these two areas.

    PCGS first and foremost.

    NGC with some suspicion.

ANACS with great skepticism and a deep breath.

SEGS and ICG if the coin is priced at least one grade lower than the insert says and my own grading opinion concurs.

THIRD WORLD slabs... just walk away.
    When in doubt, don't.

depends on what coins are being submitted and what you are trying to accomplish...

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

  • I saw this coin end on Ebay. Went for $104.82. I have never heard of this service.
My guess is: If slabbed at PCGS at a MS-64 it would of got a little higher Price.

  • When purchasing coins for resale, I prefer non-PCGS coins both slabbed and raw. The simple reason is uncleaned, attractive, properly graded coins that are not in PCGS holders do exist, and they are cheaper and sometimes much cheaper than the same coin in a PCGS slab.

When selling, PCGS coins, much more often than not, generate more revenue and are easier to sell.

Has anyone ever heard why NGC is clinging to the white holders? Somebody do a poll on which holder is the most preferred. I would, but don't know how.
