OPEN LETTER TO ALL MY FRIENDS HERE

I need to address all my friends who have supported my ebay sales and outright back door sales. I didnt really make an issue of it, but since Nov 26th (right after thanksgiving) I have been laid off. I have been busy polishing my skills(certifications MCSE and doing my damnest to avoid selling off the majority of my collection, as its my mainstay, my comfort in storms, my toys when bored. Well low and behold its 7 months later, and the majority of my collection has been slowly and quietly dispearsed amongst mainly board members (thanks to god) as I really didnt want good deals going to unknowns. I didnt do too bad, and everything found a good home except for one saint which I promised to hold for a board member. MY beloved variety jeffersons (71nos68cam especially) and full filled books (dnsaco) so now all thats left is a st 1908 no motto promised to a boardmember, 2 totally complete jeffery books with high grade stuff in one, othee first 10 years not so high grade (vf) but being worked, martys capital slabs(total high grade jeff collect) and my statehood proof reg set and my sac reg set (which are being done for my nephew, i wint sell)....and alot of C&C sets (jefferythru botanical thru mill thru louis n clark)...other than that, EVERYTHING IS GONE.

I want to thank my friends for helping me, my tough time isnt fiished, but I have a great outlook seeing how far ive gotten with help of friends, unemployment ended month and a half ago, and Im barley making it, but Im one rich guy with friends like all of you, and you all know who you are, so I wont list names as id feel real bad if I forgot one.

I love you all, thanks so much image I can honestly say all that was done for me was done without ulterior motives which is so cool. Iwish I couldve given alot of stuff to you guys, your that great.

your true friends,

Bill

Sigh...I've been there twice before. (Animation isn't exactly stable.) Keep your chin up and try and remember that a career doesn't equal your self worth. It's easier said than done when you in that situation, but try to keep it in mind and you'll be fine! image

    What a great post, Bill.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Bill....touching if nothing else. As you remember MY plight of a short while back, and having to sell off MY prized #7 FS Modern Jeff set (guess that makes me NOT MassFullStepper now) just so I could have something behind me in case dire straits faced me eye to eye as you have been doing, I can only sympathize with you. Fortunately for me, something came up from NOWHERE and I am back employed (though not in time to avoid selling my set). You attempted to give me half the shirt off your back, what with sending me job listings, as well as offering to buy and hold some of my nicer Jeffs until I was back on my feet....NO offense to any other board member, but I can truly say, with no second guessing, you are the best out here. I know I may never attain my goals again of that top 5 set (almost made it), but I firmly believe you will get back to where you want to be in coin collecting once things turn around...and they WILL....TRUST me...they will....hopefully you will be back up and running and be in better shape when the next downturn hits and get all those 'prizes' back for shorter money than you paid out. My thoughts and prayers are certainly with you, as I know yours were with me. You are a class act Bill, no two ways about it, and people such as yourself always are rewarded in the long run.

To the members who read this....I could go on and on about this true gentleman, but where I havent been here for a whole long time, I am assuming you all know Bill better than I do...and even if its only 1/100th better than I do, you are 1,000 times better off for knowing him, as I know I am. Bill is the type of person that gives this hobby a great, not good, reputation, as well as reminding us that there are still people out there that are willing to help out thier fellow man. If you all only knew what he attempted to do for me, between the emails, phone calls, support, job listings that this man gave me in my time of need, despair and nervousness caused by not being employed....but if you know him, you can only imagine what he attempted to do for me. Bill offered me a certain level of comfort, and all the while he was still looking for that level for himself. THAT is a truly selfless, unselfish human being.....and trust me, I do NOT use these kinds of words freely, and quite honestly, I cant say some of the things I have said about Bill about some of my personal 'so-called' friends. You can agree with him, or disagree with him in certain areas, but he is someone that only wishes well for everyone. I for one, owe Bill many thanks.....THANKS BILL!

All this damn out sourcing is killing jobs in CT. Where I work the feces is really starting to hit the fan. We are probably going to outsource at least 60 % of our business.

Bill keep the faith there has to be turn around in the job market around here soon.

That's a pretty good part time job! image
  • I hope someone has the good sense to offer you a great job very shortly!

  • Bill, I have been through the same thing. Things will get better soon and, before you know it, you will have the opportunity to build an even bigger and better coin collection. Best wishes to you and good luck. There is calm after the storm.

All the posts from all of you whom I consider my best friends prove the point. Regardless how bad things seem be, theres always you guys around with a kind word or offer of help when even you guys have some problems yourself. I heard a rumour things are so bad here in CT that unemployemnt may be extended, but low and behold a very dear friend is letting me do MTGS for a % which quite a few frineds are stepping up for refi's or outright purchases. Theses also a friends father whos business network needs polishing (hasnt been taken care of in years, made 380 today and going back tomorrow, plus a frineds with HECK OF ALOT MORE problems than me who has a laptop in the bag and just dropped it off. So all in one day ive found allot of excellent friends, but enough work to feed me and pay bills for a few months.

    life really is good.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU image

    pontiac:

Maybe a day off on Friday will do you a world of good. Friday is the NY Invitational coin show. We could even meet and window shop all the goodies that we are NOT going to buy. You can train in and I could even meet you there.

I will even spring for a sandwich lunch and of course pistareen / ANR Numismatics can treat both of us to dinner after their auction Friday night.

A few laughs etc. does wonders!

    Best to you!
