Some of the members here have truly become World-class experts, particularly in their favorite collection class. This is certainly the case with TDN. For those of you that have not read every word of his website, and particularly if you are buying Trade Dollars his site is a must. Recently while making up my mind on the purchase of a Trade Dollar for my extended type set, I found his site full of invaluable information in making my decision. TND has truly done his homework in preparing this site, and the site is full of little bits of information that are not commonly available. As many here know, I am very opinionated in some of my posts, but this is not personal, and I consider the PCGS forum a place to debate opposite views, so TND and I have butted heads on several issues. That being said we should all give credit where it is due, and this site was a valuable tool for me in making my decision of what Trade Dollar to purchase for my extended type set.
Pictures of the coin are below, what I finally chose was a PCGS slabbed 1873 Proof 64.Below are a couple of TND’s comments on this coin, I don’t want to copy and post to much off his site, but you can read about the 1873 coins by going to the site. Perhaps someone can post a hot link for us.

Today, the 1873 is the rarest Proof date of the regular 1873-1883 issues.

Nice coin GS !
If I ever had the time, I'd try to do the same for the seated set.
Your 1873 is a steal! They don't often come with nice eye appeal - dark is the rule. Congratulations!
Well lets us know if you ever get this site together, it really needs to be done.
Thanks for the complement. I a agree with many of your earlier statments about how underrated both the Trade Dollars and the Seated Dollars are.
Perhaps with all the price increases in the Mogans people will start looking at these coins.

We need to round up as many of these good coins as we can and get them back in Texas, don't you think?
