Does TRIME refer to both nickel and silver coins?

I don't think I've ever heard a 3 cent nickel referred to as a trime? Any reason for this, or have I just not heard enough people talking about them?

    It is because of the silver, trime, a variation of dime & back then dimes were silver, so trime is a silver three cent piece.
