Eric, I'm shocked at you. I can't believe you actually re-engraved one of your precious Morgans and then AT'ed that ugly yellow colorimage:

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
  • K6AZK6AZ Posts: 9,295
There was a period of time where I lost interest in the Morgans and put together some other sets during the 90s. It's only been in the last five years that I did a lot of house cleaning with my Morgans, getting rid of the key dates I had with problems and upgrading to better coins. My Morgan set is only a small part of my overall collection.

    Nope! image

Only 5 out of 21 'significant' coins are slabbed. The average grade, if slabbed, would be MS/PF66.

Biggest in the slab is this 1887 2 Pd. Jubilee from the recent LB sales (PCGS MS66). image

    imageimage

"Bare Nekkid" would be the 1845 super-duper rainbow crown from the image contest. image That coin is a technical 65, but PCGS would market slab it as a "66" most days, if they understood the "market" for British, that is. image
  • I myself slabbed an 1893-S Morgan PCGS AG03 (ex PCI G04 that I paid AG03 money for). Next most expensive one is an 1881-CC Morgan PCGS MS64 that I got already slabbed, and is my pride and joy. image

NO.....1877 CC Gem Trade Dollar and 1943 Copper Lincoln.
  • Yes, 1896-O Morgan Dollar - PCGS MS62 daily price guide current value $3250 image
Paid less than 1/2 that amount when I bought it in auctionimage

You can see it along with my other Morgan's at My Morgan's
  • Nope and it never will be, at least I hope no one is dumb enough to take it out of its 60+ year old holder where it has been attributed using the old Hazleton numbers by a VERY early variety collector using an old fashioned fountain pen. Its just a shame that sometime in the past a dealer wrote on the holder using a felt tip especially since they were a little generous with the grade.
