Most detector finds have "character". Enough to compensate for the fact that they may be a little crusty or whatever. Being the first person to hold a coin in 150-odd years is quite a rush- the next best thing to time travel, as far as I'm concerned! The monetary value (or lack thereof) of such finds is mostly irrelevant- a secondary concern, anyway.
