WL's Price Check on Register 9
I am considering selling/trading my 1943D WL PCGS MS65 and replacing it with a nice
1940-1942 PCGS MS66. Its one of the first coins I bought for my Type Sets.
PCGS Price lists:
1943D MS65 at $425
1940-42 MS66 at $265
Are these prices about right? Does anyone have the graysheet bid/ask prices?
What would be a decent trade? Anyone want to trade?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I checked Heritage's web site and saw that the last 43-D PCGS 65 went for $385.00 and the 41-P,42-P in PCGS 66 go for around $225.00 unless they are nicely toned. Then a 41-P PCGS 66 with nice toning went for $1100.00
Hope this help.

Sorry I missed your earlier post. PCGS price lists for the most part are a real dream price. I once had a dealer and friend say to me that, in many cases, they would be happy to sell coins for 80% of the PCGS coin prices.
Having said that, if you are the owner of choice, high end, key and semi-key dates, the PCGS prices are not even in the ball park. I just bought a pop 1 coin from a dealer that I paid a big % over PCGS price and am glad to have the coin. Buying over a published dream price requires you to know what is happening in your series, what are the chances of the coin remaining a pop 1, statistical averages play into this, what is the next down in grade pop, how long have the grade numbers held etc...
Having said that, to answer your question, the best places to find a relatively common date and grade price for a coin are, recent auction prices, Heritage is a terrific place to look, and cruise through dealer web sites for like type coins.
Good luck on the type set change if you make it.
Dick
Thanks again,
