1995W SAE...sell it or keep it?

I have a 1995 set with the silver SAE in it. The values have stayed generally the same for the last couple of years. What does everyone else think will it go up or just stay the same?

I would hold the set and wait for the future. They only struck 50,000 of them didn't they?image

I think the mintage is closer to 30,000. I think at $2,400 it is over valued. I would sell it and buy a 1893-S morgan or something similar. jmo

You could buy some nice coins with the money you'd get for the 95 SAE

  • Depends -- do you view it as being part of your collection or are you just interested in selling it to take the money and run?
  • IMO, this one may go down slightly, as it is overvalued.

I dont think the value will move very much at all. If you want to have a key in a fairly popular modern set, then keep it. If you want to increase the value of your coin holdings, I would sell it and buy a nice coin from your main collecting interest. My bias is toward beautiful coins like Mercs, SLQ or Walkers. For $2400 you should be able to get something nice that will appreciate (although I dont think Walkers will be making a move soon, just MHO).

  • I have found in particular difficult to get decent prices for PCGS and NGC Proof Eagles lately. For some reason, it seems the interest has dropped off alot for Silver Eagles. I would sell it and go with a rarer Morgan. Get some Gaudens and hold those. Just suggestions.

My buy price for today on the 5 pc. Gold/95W Silver Eagle set is $3,300 in the original box with COA. I could use up to 100 sets at that price and any board member with a set for sale could PM me for a quick and easy deal. image

I agree with most of the others on the thread - sell it and purchase some classics.

Five Cents - Nothing I have said flys in the face of your comment regarding an 1893(s) Morgan - they are very cool coins. image

I simply listed the buy price (which I rarely do here) so board members can at least know what they can honestly receive today for these sets from at least one source (me).

Wondercoin...If you are willing to buy 100 of these you sure must know something about the future of these coins or is it the full set with original box & papers that really have the true potenial?

FiveCents - Receiving the original box and COA greatly reduces the chances of "beat up" coins being offered to me. But honestly, there is nothing "special" to read into this open offer - I am interested in buying large quantities of MANY modern coins (these being just one example). Wondercoin
