What sets have you completed?

I have collected coins seriously for about ten years and the only set that I have ever completed is a small cent collection of Canadian cents. I have a Franklin set minus three coins and have been able to complete the set many times fold but always get side tracked. I'm scatter brained in all of my daily activities and it carries onto my coin collecting hobby.

    Um.. that's it.

I would include my 1909-1940 album, but I only have 21 pre-1941 cents. Anyone have some spare pre-41 lincolns they don't want? image

I have completed a Morgan set, except for the 95p. I hated the empty hole in my Dansco album, so I bought a silver copy with a Peace reverse. I figured if I had to put a copy in there, it might as well be something different!!image

Wow, so many have completed sets. My collecting is too difuse, so I have not completed sets. I do have a MS64-65 war nickel set but that is not really a complete set. Then I have a middle proof lincoln set Proof red 1936-1942 but that is not really a complete set either since there are the early matte proofs plus all the modern proofs.

  • I did finish the Proof Jefferson set.

I also am one who gets sidetracked frequently. Well I did finish the PCGS registry set for 20'th century type coins, but I don't count that as it isn't a complete type set...

I completed a set of circulated Barber Dimes (minus the '94-S). I picked up a '95-O and an old Dansco-style album cheap at an auction, and built the set around it. Took me the better part of five years to get it so it looked like an original set. I then sold it to pay my wedding photographer. image

I hope he threw in photos of the set.

I have 11 complete sets of Buffalo Nickels from restored dates to AU. (I don't do MS)

    Have a good day, Gary
  • My two favorite sets are 1938-date Jeffersons and 1964-date Kennedys.

Both of these sets are works in progress, raw and my labor of love. They are both in individual Eagle brand holders and albums. I am constantly looking for the best examples of date/mint mark for each set, and have even gone as far to break out MS65-68 coins from ICG, PCGS, NGC and ANACS slabs with the Jeffersons. In my opinion, this is how collecting should be. image

    In the registry:
    1950 proof set.... that's it

In raw, all non-error buisness strikes:
    Lincoln Wheats
    Lincoln Memorials
Indian cents (including the three common flying eagles)
Jefferson nickels from 1938-1964 all non-error biz strikes
    Vnickels
    Roosies
    Merc Dimes
    Washington quarters
    Franklin Halves

That's it. I'm thinking about moving back toward raw. Them dansco albums is calling to me.
