Yeah, me too but at least this is a coin with some age, some gravitas, not a modern NCLT.

Boz, gotta be an interesting story behind the coin...

Remarkable shape for the age HUH,,, Edge reads "Payable in Bedworth Hinkley or Nuneaton . +. ". Dalton & Hamer.

    Warwickshire 244. Atkins 183.

I did notice that there is a good deal of difference between the 1792 and the 1793,,, The Elephant is even from a different continent.

My token book says all the 1793's "Lady Godiva's" are counterfeits, contemporary I believe. However, my info could be wrong, my copy is dated 1970.

Bigallan,,, very interesting....when I got the coin and looked at the hooves I suspected something like that, there is a definite break between the leg and the hoof , also the elephant cover is different and it is an African elephant on the 93 and an Indian elephant on the 92. If this is a contemp counterfeit, they went to a great deal of trouble for a Halfpenny, including the edge writtingimage
  • According to da book there are 7 dies for legit 92s, 8 different dies for the 93, 3 for 94 and 2 for 95, all counterfeit. One of the 93 and the 94 and 95 dies have the Coventry cross instead of the elephant. I discovered this when I got my '93. As a comtemporary counterfeit they have just as much value to me as a "real one.image
