A couple years ago I spent $1,000 on a pcgs ms-70 RFK dollar from the sms set (it matched the half from the set). I have also spent up to $650 on Lincoln cent varieties. Joe
Other than generic MS65 saints at $1000-1200 I have only stepped up one time on ebay. I was the only bidder on a PCGS PF66 1857 dime with majestic color rings in an old green tag holder. Paid well over $5000. I was not confident that the coin would match the wonderful photo but it did. The seller (a major Florida dealer) had stated to me before the sale that the coin had sold for over $22,000 in the 1989 market. If in the same holder than seemed pretty reasonable. It was on consignment due to a client's divorce. He put it up real quick to liquidate. Luckily for me no one else bid on the darn thing. The sale ended at 2:00 pm Pacific time during the middle of a Long Beach show. Talk about terrible timing for the seller. I figured the coin was worth 30% more than I paid once I got a chance to study it closely. My bid was actually 20% higher than what I had to pay. The coin was indeed monstrous and a high end PCGS PF66 to be sure. I've not seen a better looking proof stars obverse dime since.
I've spent a lot of time looking for similar scores since then but not a thing has turned up. That may have been my one lucky shot on ebay. But I'll keep checking nontheless.
2300 dollars for Bustmans pcgs 64 1835 dime {I almost lost it for being a zero feedback bidder] but I don't bid very often on sleez bay.

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
Probably around $2,500, but I would not do that now unless I knew the seller or they had excellent feedback with all the crap going on today. I have sold a few at the $7500.00 range, but now Id be more inclined to cosignn them to an auction house, even with the 15% loss of the top.
I very rarely buy on e-bay anymore, I use it more of a selling avenue.
I've bought a couple of coins around $1600 off ebay. The most expencive ebay purchase I've had was probably around $1800. That was a 14-D cent in NGC 64BN. I didnt really like it so I sold it about a month later.
My most expensive bought an sold were all the same type coin ( not the same coin). I sold my 1795 PCGS AU55 Flowing hair dollar for a respectable $19000.00 (paid 15K). Later that year I just happened apon another flowing hair dollar I had seen before and liked. I made the guy an offer for 15K, bought it......sold it again for 16750.00 6 months later. Flowing hairs have been very, very good to me.

I bought a 1798 Draped Bust Dollar in XF45. It was in a SEGS holder. Rejected by NGC, rejected by PCGS, Corroded, Tooled & Cleaned by ANACS, Net VF20. Sold for $1500 on Ebay in the ANACS holder. I won't buy SEGS again.
The most I ever spent on a single coin on eBay was $400 for a Goodacre Presentation Sacagawea in the original ICG slab (I still refuse to get her reslabbed by PCGS and lose the originality.). The seller was very professional, and threw in certified mail shipping for free. She was exactly as described. I have had very good success thus far with eBay.
I picked up a 1917 Type Two, Standing Liberty Quarter, PCGS MS 65 FH, blast white centers with slight rim toning for an amazingly low price of $700 a couple of months ago ( I was the only bidder ... and no, I didn't use the BIN ) .
