Older Boxes to pack out for profit...

I am getting back into selling at shows and flea markets and one of my big sellers has always older wax. I call it rookie wax. I would buy boxes from popular sets of ebay and pack it out so that I almost always doubled. I was trying to think of some good sets and wondered what ideas you guys might have. I already bought...
89 UD
1982 Donruss
1999 Topps Chrome FB
1998 Bowman Chrome FB
92-93 UD BK
96-97 Finest BK

What is some other wax that has good potential rookies but sells cheap by the box on ebay?

  • 94-95 sp basketball (kidd)
    95-96 sp basketball (garnett)

1991 tsc baseball (no real rookies, but a classic that can be had for cheap)
1991 bowman baseball (tons o rookies)
1987 donruss (tons o rookies also)

just opened a box of 94-95 sp. 4 or 5 common cards shy of a set, with psa 9 quality kidd and hill rookies, and a 9 quality kidd holoview. i believe i got the sp box for under $25, so i am pretty happy how it turned out.

If I were going out this weekend - Clemens has to be hot - he's pitching his face off and IMO his cards are still reasonable - at 100$/box 85D - can't see why kids wouldn't pay 5-6 bucks a pack? Just a thought.

edit: as stated the 87D is loaded with RC's and at 35$/box - you are looking at 2-3$ packs - that's a great price for the kids! IMO

1989 Score Football. I bought a couple of packs off of ebay. The boxes go for $200-$230. I think there are 36 packs in a box. If you charge $7 or $8 you'd make money off the packs. There's something like 15 cards per pack, which is a lot more than most packs these days.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

94-95 SP sounds good at $25 a box. I think I could get $2.75-$3 a pack on it

Depending on the "locals" you might want to "invest" in a few 91 Golf. Even at .50 to $1 a pack you should pull in money. Most boxes are $6 or so. Put on display a Woods rookie that books at $20 and a few GU to "pull them in".

    Just a thought.

I am guessing you mean 01 Golf lol. Yeah they overproduced the heck out of that stuff. I also thought about 01 SPA Golf.
  • If you can find the rack boxes of 01 UD golf (the ones with the SP preview packs) you could probably pack them out at $3 a rack and get $36 from a box that you shouldn't have trouble finding for about $22-24 (including shipping) on Da Bay image

    1985 Topps Clemens, McGwire
    1987 Fleer Baseball Bonds
    1983 Topps Tons of RC's
1987 Donruss, you get it for like a buck a pack on ebay
1989-90 fleer basketball is a fun box
  • ALLEN, i paid $26.50 shipped for that box. i was looking at some 95-96 boxes and they vary from 27-35, but haven't got one yet cause i'm going on vacation. most people have buy it nows of like 30 and up (for the 94-95). just wait till someone has a starting bid of around 10 bucks or so and it shouldn't surpass $20 or 25 (as i did a search on completed items). if the nets and kidd do well in the rest of the playoffs, you could even get $4 (also webber 2nd year).
