PCGS Turnaround Time and Prices

I have noticed that since I resigned up with PCGS about a month ago, that the turnaround times have in some cases trippled. What has caused this lagging in turnaround time. Also what are people experiencing for their "actual turnaround times".

Also I have noticed that the prices for PCGS Modern coins seemed to have cooled off. In fact on Ebay some of the prices of the 1, 5 and 10 cent coins in PR69-DC almost are less then the price of getting the coins slabbed.

    Hi. Welcome to the boards.

Your (2) comments are actually tied into each other I believe for this reason. Submission levels are at record highs, while at the same time, dealers are comfortable offering out modern PR69DCAM material at near cost. And, this is nothing new by the way. image

Turnaround times have tripled in the last month?

  • Actually what I meant was when I was a collectors club member with PCGS about 3 years ago, when ever I submitted to PCGS my moderns for the year I would receive the Slabs back in my hand within about 3 weeks of sending them. Now they are advertising on the status page for the economy/modern 70 day turn around....

    Hope the clarification helps.

  • On Saturday I received a submission back from PCGS even though the submission centre page states that they are waiting for further processing.
The turnaround time was 80 days door to door.

  • I recently submitted 15 coins under the Modern Economy scale.

It was received 02/25/200x By PCGS and sent out 03/31/200x . About 36 days at the time they projected about 70-90 days.

I'm not unhappy, more elated than not, since one coin came back as an MS70 1998 Kennedy SMS.

  • Well its nice to see I'm not the only 1 stuck in this boat, regross99. I have 2 submissions there now.
The first they received 4/1/04 and the second got there on 5/5/04. Seems to me that last year the turnaround time was 3-5 weeks. I'm waiting on 2 orders from the mint and wondering if I'm gonna have 4 submissions there at 1 time!!! Maybe I should have used the 4 free gradings and see if they come back quickerimage

  • How much time do you add to your sumission if there was a grading show?
