OWNERS: Felix Shlag winning design sets, Chime in!

I got two sets and really like them. The art deco lettering is truely sweet. Is the series over now(Total = 1938)? Whats the trend on the bay of E? I know its not a US mint product but that might actually be good!

Best regards,

Dan Watson

I like 'em and it would be cool to see the mint use the obverse of Monticello on the real deal.

They could end the series with this design and make a lot of people very happy. Darrell Crane are you here?

For some odd reason I picked one (set) up at the last Santa Clara show. It was a spur of the moment thing.

I like them, they look pretty cool. I'll just stash them away and forget about them for a few decades however.
  • I own a set. As far as i understand the production number is 1938 sets. No more will be produced.

They have seen some activity on eBay but all in all i think it was a frenzy that has come to an end. There were the occasional buyers, that in my opinion didn't recognize what they were actually bidding on, and bid up the pricing to very unrealisting levels. If memory serves me correctly one set went for between 4 and 5 hundred ? Another went for around $200. These were definately anomalies and probably represent the "feeding frenzy" from a few uneducated buyers thinking they were getting some kind of pattern series or something ?
There was definately some profit taking going on by those "in the know" but that's just business i guess. Nothing wrong with it as long as there's no defrauding going on.

All in all i'd say these are a beautifully crafted reproduction of a design that should have been put in place in the beginning.

I've picked up a couple of sets as well. Love the design and the slab. I wouldn't mind seeing them use it to finish off the Jefferson series. I just wish the Jefferson series was already finished.

  • I've got mine!

If the US Mint has to revert to a Monticello reverse on the nickel I hope they use this one, which is the one Felix Schlag created in the first place.
  • I like the design as well.

I think I saw their last auction state that they were nearing the halfway
point as far as selling out, so there is plenty of supply at this point.

Darryl Crane still has a few more sets that he releases slowly on ebay...the production run is finished and no more than 1938 were made. What I cant stand and theres a few here on the board who did this, is they exploited Darryl by selling singles at 200+...luckily I caught quite a few prospective buyers and sent them to Darryl so they could get a full set for 80 bucks insted of a single for 200+ image

I have my couple of sets also just because they are soooooooo good looking, Even got a couple real low & cool serial numbered sets, if that really matters.
