That ain't the type of picture I wanna see. The Coin has got to be bigger than the label. In fact I just wanna see the coin. No label.

Much better Larry. Now I want one just like it of all the different reverses.

I got to do me a set of proof 1/4 ouncers.

  • I figured we would see some more pics by now! image

You know I take pretty mediocre pictures to begin with but how do I post more pics if my web page is full? I can make room for a couple of big pics but then I have to delete something else if I want to upload more than that.image

I love the reverse series on these proof platinum's. I had thought the Mint would cancel the platinum eagle program altogether once the reverse series ended last year. The new reverse is nice but I think the coins from the series are going to be the most popular proof platinum's to collect.

I think the Plat proofs are the best series the Mint has put out in decades. It's a shame they're so expensive to acquire. I'm sure they'd be much more popular otherwise.

Thanks for the preview, Bill. image

    expensive to acquire? yes, but...
consider (and subtract) the value of the platinum, the slabbing, the value of the coin, up to $100, then the grade.
The high grades make sense, and are less expensive than first perceived, imho.
ps. not to mention mintages and pops. image
  • image also, Steve. image

I chose the 1/2 oz proofs because it gave me the most "bang for my bucks".
It was still a decent size coin to display such "landscapes".
The premium goes up as the size of the coin goes down.
The mintages on the 1/2 oz are the lowest of the series.

98 and 99 have beautiful designs. The designs after don't look good to me. image

  • I could be wrong, it's actually happened before, image but isn't the 1997, the first year, a one year only type since it uses the same reverse design as the BU stikes?

The next six years were suposed to be the Vistas of Liberty series and then after that the mint was going to go back to having the same reverse as the BU coins again. Has this changed?

No Slabs for these. I am just collecting them for the pleasure of viewing some great designs.

Besides everyone one of them is a PR70 in my eyes.

    Thanks Donimage

    P.S. I have a 2003 on the way too.image
