In the new edition of Coin World magazine, a columnist place the value of a 1690 Irish 'Gunmoney' Shilling
at $5 in Very Good; $11 in Fine. Anybody else think that's just a mite tad off?
If not, and you have a supply of them-- send me 4 of them and I'll send you a $20 bill!

There must be some sort of error. You can't buy stuff like that for that money.

Trouble is if you want a particular date, you'll find you will NEVER get it. You're also in danger of paranoia setting in with all the dealers trying to rip you off.
For instance --- how much for a Fine 1940 Irish Penny?.... That irish.com site says 4 Euros (or £3). Now we know that they're easy to get in this grade. But we also all know that if we put one on Ebay with a nice pic and smooth spiel and start at a penny, the coin will sell for £10-15 or 15-22 Euros.
Best price guide is a pile of mailing lists from dealers and a night researching Ebay.
