32-0 on my Bracket picks on ESPN.com

Pure luck but kind of exciting so far, $10,000 prize would be nice.

  • Dude, you do know there was at least one contest that offered $1 million for a perfect bracket, not that the ESPN cash wouldn't be nice. My dream ended when FL lost.
  • I am 28-4 so far but the 4 games I lost I didn't have any of those teams getting past the second round so that helps -good luck with the perfect bracket
referances on my web site - Thanks

  • Yea I know, I did that one too, but had Florida in that one, yes a Million would def work, but I don't expect to finish perfect. Right now I am in a tie on ESPN with 18 others.

  • A few years ago, when internet contests were, for lack of a better term, mad crazy image ESPN offered a $10,000,000 prize for a perfect bracket... I couldn't imagine what it would be like if somebody were 63-63 going into the last game, except the team that the person didn't pick to win would probably be getting some phone calls telling them to take it easy, coupled either with enticing cash offers or death threats image

  • OMG. That guy in 1st had even Nevada beating Gonzaga. That is retarded...how is it possible?
  • Yes I had my first miss with the Gonzaga game, but at least have them going out in the next round, so If I can manage to get the rest right, I should still be in the running. I have Georgia Tech, Okla ST. Stanford and Cinci in the final 4. Am worried about Cinci getting that far with their performance in the first game. I have Okla St winning against Stanford in the final.

  • Well there is like a million people on that ESPN Guess Em' Bracket. Each person can have up to 5 brackets, so someone is bound to have 63-0. But you never really know.

I highly doubt that guy will win it, er go 63-0 i mean

  • Best of luck with your perfect bracket. Duke falling to Miss. St. & Uconn falling to NC Start are pretty far fetched though - but Gonzaga losing to Nevada is just as far!

I like your GaTech final four pick - I go to Tech image

  • BTW, I thought about the odds of having a perfect bracket. They are against anyone.

    Here's my math:

This is the only unempirical number in the calculation - I figure that on AVERAGE each game can be approximated with 75% certainity. The 1 vs. 16 match-ups are a lock but there are plently of near "50-50" games out there. Statistically you would be best picking all favorites. Anyway the odds are

.75^63 = 1.34543E-8 chance or for every BILLION entries 13.45 are correct.

Let's go so far to say that you had inside information or were an expert and could have 80% certainty

.80^63 = 7.8464E-7 chance or for every ONE HUNDRED MILLION entries 76.5 are correct.

Going back to the .75 chance one, if a perfect bracket is worth 1 million than an entry in the contest is worth about 1.35 cents.

Multiple accounts with 5 brackets each...not too hard.

A little over half way over and there isn't a perfect one left. image

  • You know what's sad, is on ESPN with one of my brackets I decided to just pick the higher seed in every game for fun, sadly enough, that bracket is the best I have right now!!!
  • Well, Stanford took care of ensuring that pretty much nobody will have a perfect bracket. It is amazing though that the person winning the ESPN bracket contest DID pick Alabama over STanford and Nevada over Gonzaga.
