1927 Wreath Crown Questions

I am thinking of buying this coin. Spinks has it at £175 ( $315.00 ) What do you think is a fair price for this piece? (NGC PF65)

  • Just noticed where the image came from so had a look at their website, hence I have seen the asking price. Sorry that isn't helping much in answering your question though. Bit out of my league when asking price is over Spink, have you tried making them an offer at the Spink value?

It has been my experience that NEN won't take much less than 80-85% of the asking price.

£100 to £140. These are quotes from other annual price guides. Spink has it at £175.

That is one of the nicer ones I have seen, though, so it will be tough to go much lower than £150.

Lloyd, I would say that your coin is a reasonable alternative. image

Naaahh... they won't deal with me around here. Know I'll have 'em roped, tied and branded before they can say "what's the game then?" image

Wybrit thought I was evil for asking £25 for a BU 57 Calm Sea 1/2d. When he sees Cooke's estimate he'll know who's evil.... image

EDIT: I should add that the book value for the calm sea is currently FIVE Pounds

Wybrit Calm Sea Song (AKA The Cowboy Blues)

There's a space in my collection
Where the Calm Sea should be,
I thought Lloyd tried to screw me
    But now I don't agree

Old Cookies up at forty quid
and now I'm on the ropes
He's trying to bend me over
And I'm giving up all hopes

    Forty quid is ludicrous
I refuse to pay all that
But if I wait another month
It might be more than that.

I'll have to get one one day
To keep my head held high
Perhaps ol' Lloyd will help me out
It might be worth a try

But he drove past in his huge Jag
    As if I wasn't there
The fat git now ignores me
And his finger's in the air

Mine cost me $235. several years ago. It's still the most expensive coin that I own.
