What % of the known BU 1879-CC Morgans were from the GSA Hoard?

And I realize that this is just a ballpark. But I see the large prem. for the GSA holdered coin......Wasn't this issue comparable to the others (81,82,83-cc,etc.)in terms of a very large % of the known BU coins came from the GSA hoard?

I'd have to check my book tonight for specifics...but there were very FEW 79-CCs in the GSA dump compared to the general population

Yes a large percentage of the known Unc coins came from the GSA hoard, but a smaller percentage of the total mintinge of the 79-CC was in the hoard than the percentage of the mintage of the 81,82,83-CC etc. Sorry I don't have the percentage of mintage figures for each date at my fingertips. Here are some rough figures 79-CC about 4,123 coins .5% of original mintage 1881-CC 147,485 coins 49.5% of the original mintage 1882-CC 605,000 coins 53.4% of mintage 1883-CC 755,000 coins 62.7% of mintage And since most of the GSA coins were Unc you can see that there are almost 200 times as many 83-CC GSA dollars as there are 79-CC.

There were about 3600 Unc 79-CC's in the GSA hoard. I've got firm numbers if anyone wants to be precise. Of the roughly 3600, about 600 were of the Capped Die variety.

The minimum buy bid price was listed at $300 at the time the coins went up for mail bid, but a bid of $360 was required to win one.

Updated: 3608 sold in the Unc category. I haven't yet found the number for those sold in the 'Silver Dollar' category, but seem to remember it to be about 600. Of course, these were also actually uncirculated as well.

Conder's 4,123 found in the Treasury hoard is also correct for the total for the date.
