  • Just turned this on, watching these two coin "experts." The best is when they disagree with one another -- you'll see that from time to time. The ICG offer is just terrible. A close second is their offer for "Random Date Gold" for "only" $899. What kind of offer is that?

HAHAHAHA -- he's saying the "silver melt value" alone of these coins is worth $875, but you can get them now for $299 -- and ON FLEX PLAY! YEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH. And I agree, it looks like someone took a rubber mallet to them.

Update -- Now they're saying these coins are great because it's the first time a "non-president" appeared on U.S. coinage. OOHHH -- get my Visa stat!

Anyway, that guy on the left is the same one hawking those WORTHLESS gold- and platinum-plated quarters with the fake phone ringing in the background.

The day before, he was saying he loves ICG because it's an "independent" third-party grader that doesn't have related businesses selling its graded coins, which was an indirect swipe at PCGS, I believe.

    Christ I hate these two.

Can any lawyers explain how that is not a violation of "truth in advertising?" Some commercials just blow your mind.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
  • Warning -- they're back on for their second hour. Now they're hawking a thousand dollar bill for $3,995.00.

  • hahahah and I quote "the mint will only make these quarters for 10 weeks and 10 weeks only, by law the mint can never make these coins again"
  • Don't they plate those coin to cover up the circulation scratches?image
  • ugh..i so hate this guy....i wonder if he even owns any coins besides the "7-layer Platinum Gem Brilliant Uncirculated State Quaters"
  • hey we better move quick there are 160 million people collecting the state quarters LOL
  • The junk they were hawking the last two hours was unbelievable. I didn't know they had a 2-hour Saturday show. Also ridiculous is when they flash a "product" only to put the red "sold out" sign above the item number, as if we're impressed they sold out of ICG fecal matter to unsuspecting consumers. Losers.

  • I'm kicking myself 1000 times because I'm not going to buy those plated state quaters.
  • well the show is over time for those two hosts to go into hiding for the next few days so that they do not get killed by all the collectors that actually bought these coins and then figured out they were worth half of what they paid for them
  • The next thing you know..they will be hawking sample slabs on there......image

The absolute worse thing about these shows are that they are on so often. If they wern't selling up a storm. they would try to peddal something else. So there has to be a bunch of suckers out there purchasing their overpriced junk. Check your guide, the coin vault show on the shop at home network is on EVERY NIGHT..a staple..geez. I noticed in last monthes issue of "the Numismatist" from th ANA that there was reference to these shows and the numismatic worthlessness of the plated state quarters...Maybe something will be done, but of course, this is America, free enterprise and all...

Actually, a direct swipe and a valid point. No matter how one feels about ICG's grading, one must be a little unnerved by the too-closeness of PCGS and DHRC.

Anyway, I had a bigger laugh at a silent auction I attended last night. One of the items up for bid was six Silver Eagles, and they had placed a suggested value of $150 on them. Yes, it was all for charity, but I couldn't bring myself to bid up to that level (although others did).
  • $875 melt at $6.91 per ounce is 126.63 ounces divided by 16 is 7.91 pounds. Those are some heavy Frankies.

The claim he made is an out and out lie and violates Truth in Advertising.

  • Yeah, between them and the SAH gang, makes me sick! I am pretty new to coin collecting but even I can see they're ripping people off. I watch for the chance to sit and laugh. Too bad a lot of people are buying their overpriced crap and will probably be turned off the hobby when they find out they have been hosed!! imageimage
  • I watch this stuff for the Comedy Value only!! image

Actually he made reference to the high prices that silver commanded in the eighties and he was mentioning that if it were to got that high again that is the melt value, true many people will not understand this but people need to do research before they buy anything, there will always be impulse buyers out there and this is exactly the audience that these people appeal to
