I have my local PAX TV station on and to fill some of their broadcasting day, they run long running (30 - 60 minutes each) commercials...
The show that just came on is about a special Statehood Quarter's package...
Each 60 coin set includes the following sets for 1999, 2000 & 2001:
- P Mint Set (their packaging assembled from mint rolls and bags)
- D Mint Set (their packaging assembled from mint rolls and bags)
- Gold plated set (MM not mentioned)
- Platinum plated set (MM not mentioned) - 7 whole layers of platinum... Oh, boy!
All for you at a special discounted price of $99.95 + S&H (a retail value of over $400.00)
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist... This show is so silly... I rarely see these shows so I rarely see this guy's sales pitch...
They just announced a bonus of 2003 P&D Sacagawea Golden Dollars... At no extra cost...

So much hype in this show...

They just had a "30 year proof set collection" for $399.
However, they only displayed 27 sets, the first of which seems to be 1964. No special mint sets I don't think.
The two guys just go on endlessly with hyperbole about how these are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
And with the 1964 set, that "you might be looking at the first Kennedy half ever made"!
Oh please.
During the sleazy marketing schtick they showed a pile of Morgans, with someone handling them, DROPPING them into the pile. Like what we do with pocket change, empty the pocket, throw them into jar. That was how they handled the Morgans.
My jaw opened, I freaked.
My problem is that they come very close (but never actually say) that the Gold and Platinum sets are US Mint issues. They very strongly imply that if you buy all of this stuff you have a "complete" set of State Quarters. They conveniently omit any reference to the Proof and Silver Proof sets (which they are not offering) that actually would complete the set along wth P & D, minus the gold and platinum nonsense of course.
And then the guy says that for $119 bucks you're in...but he always forgets to add that the $119 is one of three payments...!!
Now I'm too aggravated too continue...
Chicolini: Mint? No, no, I no like a mint. Uh - what other flavor you got?
