It's real, but how can you prove otherwise?

That was a tough one for me, it's questionable. I said fake. If it's real it's the worst job of original toning I ever seen.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Wow. I would like to see that one in person. It has all the characteristics of AT. I was certainly fooled.

The Morgan's real, but its a long term AT job image

    - seems some governement employee was messing around in the late 1880's, put it in a bag and threw it in a corner for about 80 years until his accomplice could retrive it and sell it to some sucker for $15! (and they slabbed it at that !) imagine that a 1400% increase in value just by tossing it in a bag in a corner! image Those government "coin doctors" are really patient when it comes to ATing their coins. image

Good gawd!, that's one really (toned) ugly GSA CC Morgan. Sorry, but that's the way I see it.
  • To begin with it's in a GSA holder and I am certain that Uncle Sam didn't allow the coin doctors into the vaults prior to holdering the coins -- therefore, the only reasonable answer would be "ORIGINAL." Moreover, (even without the benefit of the GSA holder) this coin obviously displays "ORIGINAL" bag toning. AT? Come on now..........

Come on guys......I'm disappointed with those of you that believe it's fake color.

It's real, not real common, but real nonetheless.

I could probably find 10 that I've put away with the same colors...........though perhaps better overall eye appeal.

In all my years of looking at GSA coins, I've found ONE piece that I believe was AT'd in the holder and it's a pretty poor attempt. Next time I'm at the bank I'll try to find it to post pics for you guys.

I thought it looked like a GSA holder but Trooper could have cropped the coin onto any background.
Oh well got me on that one. image

    Dog,

You, as well as anyone, should know that GSA's can look like AT experiements gone horribly wrong.image

Can you provide close up photos of the sides of the GSA holder. If the holder has been tampered with, well then all bets are off! If the holder has not been tampered with then it's real!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

The case is perfectly fine. Not been tampered with.
Here's one i just bought today on a BIN. The reverse looks like it's a keeper. I wish the colors were on the obv.

    Tom

I think this one has some neat colors. I'll have to wait until it's at the door.
