The Phoenix Show small report and newps

Smaller than I have seen it in all the years I've gone. New location to, in a nice hotel conference room. Made things a little growded, but not that bad. For the most part it was the same AZ dealers and a few out of state ones. I took the 1850 large cent in pcgs ms64rd to see if the market could be hot in this little show,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it was not. It was the same old tune, "it's not good for the grade", "to bad for the little spot,, it's going to grow ya know. I can do 6 for it". Only one dealer liked it a lot and said so. He knew the series and had only seen a few as nice but couldn't pay what I could get for it elsewhere. He had such a cool demeanor with "try to be tough" buyers that I had to smile when they left. I bought the only coin of the show from him for his price. A low MS 1878 Trade $ with good eye appeal for a couple bills.

Then I found Mike Pezak, the hobonickelguy. Chatted with him for an hour. I've always wanted a few to show but couldn't swing the super high end stuff but did pickup a hand full of these type of examples.

I so badly wanted to be there and see you, I'm sorry it didn't work out for me. Arizona is a easy drive for me, I'll make one of those shows, maybe the Tucson one.....

    66Tbird,

I live here in Mesa. I didn't go to Phx. this year, but was able to go to the Mesa coin club's show at Centennial Hall. I like the atmosphere at the Mesa show much better. The Phx. shows in the past by Washington and Jefferson were always a pain to get to and most times (IMO) a let down. The thing I like most about the Mesa's coin club show is it is more collector driven with plenty of raw coins to snag image Thanks for the report.

The one thing that I fall for most every year is the "ANACS will be on sight to except coins for grading" or something to that writen on the flyer. I've only seen them there once a few years back, but I still keep bringing my cleaned seated half for the net grade. Maybe next yearimage
