PCGS Label Question...how to

I have a friend who is dying of cancer. He has a very nice collection of Canadian coins.

He is giving me these coins as a gift.

I would like to preserve them by putting them in PCGS Holders with his name on the holder.

For example

PCGS MS65 Coin
The John Smith Collection

Is this possible?

If so how does one go about requesting this?

Is this something that is reserved for special collections or top collections?

Thanks for your replies...

I believe it is only for top collections, but I don't hope so.....

    Good luck

You first need to get them in a pcgs slab then put then into the registry set.
If your coins put you in the top 5 sets then you send them to pcgs again and they will put the name on them within the allowed number of letters.
You can find more info at the main pcgs page-registry.
    Its called a pedigree.
  • It might be worth a call to PCGS about this case... Good luck!

Wasn't somebody making DIY snap together slabs with room for a label??

This may be an option, if a thrird party co. can't do it.

PCGS should have no problem doing this. The part about being a top registry set gets you a "free" pedigree re-holder, but I am sure PCGS will do this for the normal re-holder fee. I know when we had the toned coins from the Wayne Miller collection holder, we just requested that they be pedigreed to him when we submitted them, and back they came with the name on it.

Never knew you can have pcgs put a pedigree on any coin.

Ok this sounds like it might hold some promise.

I am going to sit down with my friend soon and we are going to pick the coins we want to preserve.

Any more information on this subject is appreciated.

Thanks for the responses so far...
