Updated Pic: My first toner, could use advice please

I don't know much about toned Morgans. What toning pattern is this, End Roll? It looks like "In God We Trust" glows orange in the right light. The spots look like untoned areas on the coin. It's very colorful, but splotchy with blue, purple, orange, red, and yellow. Sorry for the bad pic, best I could do.

Edited: Removed broken pic links. See WWW's repost below.

So, is it a keeper, or do I throw it back?

I'll hazard a guess based on the fuzzy image and say that it's bag toned because of the blotchiness and hue of the color.

Got the dreaded red X. Must be on Yahoo huh?

I guess with his eagle-eye, WWW is the only one of us who can see the color.

I too see only a red X, but then, at this hour, that may just be my blood-shot eyeballs I'm seeing.image

GSAGUY - is red a desirable color? Does it have to be little xxxx's all over the coin or can it be uniform and smooth. image
(I see red xxxxs too! must be the late hour)

  • Thanks for the repost WWW. Yes, I was using yahoo. What's the issue with there Photo sharing sight, do they have a lot of problems? It looks like the pics were good for a little while at least.

They don't allow you to link the pictures to message boards because they are scared you might use their site to host some pictures and sell them on eBay from your free account. So after WWW saw them the bandwidth usage increased and yahoo shut down the links.
I'd say that is album or envelope tone. As far as being a keeper I don't want to hurt your feeling especially on your first toner but since you asked it's just an average toned coin and the toning being splotchy and not uniform makes it less than appealing to me personally and that's coming from me, who runs a halfway house for used & abused unwanted rejected Morgans where they are treated with love & care.

  • Thanks for your honesty Dog. That's what I'm looking for. I paid untoned money for it, so no loss. I liked the way "In God We Trust" looks almost highlighted (not sure if it's real clear on the picture), so I picked it up. I've been trying to decide whether to keep or sell it. If you think I wouldn't get much of a "toning" premium, I'll keep it. If there was a premium, I'd probably sell it and buy a white one as I'm not really much of a toned coin collector.

Since you can't see the obverse pic, it's a NGC-65.
