2004 Platinum Eagle Designs

In the March 2nd Numismatic News thaey have some designs the CCAC is reviewing for the 2004 Platinum Eagles. I wish all our coins had designs like these on them. They are gorgeous.

they should redesign all the coins and paper money with designs like those.

That design is why I collect Proof Platinum Eages. Great design every year. The key is that at least they change the design. Can you imagine how much gold they would sell if they changed the design on the Proof or Unc. Gold Eagle?

And yes, more designs like this on circulating coinage...!!

They're not gone. I've been saying this for years -- it's not that our artists are any less talented than those of a century ago, it's just that they routinely have their ideas snuffed out by committees, congresscritters, various PACs and lobbies, the PC brigade, and so forth. Platinum Eagles, probably due to their high price and low market awareness, can fly under the radar and actually get decent designs produced.
