I made it to the coin show at the Sahara last weekend. I was lucky enough to meet board member ConstellatioCollector (Jim), but apparently just missed KyleKnapp. In my limited experience it's always nice to talk with a board member in person, and Jim was no exception.
As for the show, it was a little smaller than I expected (probably 20-25 dealers), but a few of my favorites were there. As usual there was an abundance of problem coins and several "problem dealers". I found it interesting that my friend who knows nothing about coins could easily pick out the dealers pushing problem coins at problem free prices. All in all, it was worth the price of admission.
I didn't find any of the coins I needed for my typeset, but I did pick up an interesting capped bust quarter (pictured below). It has VF 30-ish details along with some remaining luster in protected areas and some neat album toning probably acquired after a light cleaning (I don't see much in the way of hairlines). In hand the toning around the entire periphery of the obverse appears similar to the area above the cap in the scan while the reverse halo is wider but more subdued. For some reason my scanner is giving the obverse a "rough" texture, and the reverse scan is pathetic.
Feel free to post your thoughts on this coin.

But if there is to be one here, I will definitely be there. Anyone have exact dates for these shows, please post or I can find out at work tonight.

Wayne, I work for Mandalay Bay and they did verify that there is a show there on May 18th thru the 25th. I will probably be there on the 19th (my Saturday) as I work Fri thru Tue).
I'll be there!

It's at Jackie Gaugan's (sp) Plaza downtown. Go under Google and look for Las Vegas Coin Show or PM poptopsrus - he's is setting up according to his earlier posts.
ACH!!! Just found out it is the 5th, 6th and 7th of March. I work swing and these days are my Mon/Tues/Wed. May NOT make it!
Thanks, Wondo!

The LVNS show next month is definitely one of the best Las Vegas has to offer. I hope to see all of you there!
