I just purchased three books on Franklin Halves.

Two years ago I called this one of the ugliest U.S. coins ever minted.

Last year I started questioning why so many people love the series.

And then today...

For the record I used to think Lucy was a insane. Now, I'm not so sure.

Also, if I'm going to point the finger at anyone, Frank (FC57Coins) is the one who gets the blame!

My grandfather used to go down to the bank every time the new Franklins came out and set them aside for my mother. I'm thinking that she has a full set (I don't know if the set is just the Phila. or if it includes Ds and Ss too). Thinking back to the last time I saw them, they are all at least AU, if not better. All of them have developed toning... She saves them because they were given to her from her father, not as a collector... I hope to get a chance to look them over again someday... (She has to find them first.)

I know. Incredible isn't it.

1. The Complete Guide to Franklin Half Dollars by Rick Tomaska - an excellent read so far.
2. An Analysis of Gem Franklin Half Dollars by Jack Ehrmantraut Jr. - appears to be an informative book.
3. The Franklin Half Dollar Collector/Investor Guide - nothing new and out of date.
